New York City is one of the quintessential destinations for pizza. Everyone from out of town usually wants to get a slice of “NY pizza” as part of their itinerary. There are many pizza shops all over NYC in all boroughs. Each borough claims their slice is the best for one element or another but one thing most places can’t front on is the “Pizza God” Domenico “Dom” Demarco. Starting Di Fara back in 64′ Dom was one of the original leaders of the pack slingin NY slices and pies. The man would make all of the pies by hand himself using home grown ingredients and ingredients imported from overseas to make each pie special with his signature. The man knows what he is doing and his reputation has only grown based on his solid creations over the years.
Revered by current and old masters of the craft Dom is from the old country. Hailing from Provincia Di Caserta he brought Italy with him using skills learned from his parents and the locals there. When you taste his pizza you taste authenticity and true care in each and every pie and slice.
Dom, now 79 years old is getting up there. He still comes into the shop and makes pies until he gets tired and then allows his children to take the helm. So with all of that said I invite you to taste the Pizza of Legend from a true master and potentially get to see the man in action. There may be long lines/waitss for this pizza but trust me; it’s worth it.
The Aim: Grab a pie or two, soda and/or beer and enjoy the afternoon in Midwood Brooklyn. The area is perfectly ripe for Culinary Foolinary business maintaining a predominantly classic eastern European presence combining Polish, Jewish and Russian cultures. If there is still feedbag room we can romp a bit to taste some of the old world local fare.
Come join us for this treat and get to see and taste the food of The Man while he is still with us. This will also help you add more fuel to that constant argument on what is the best pizza in NYC!
